The
Heel Pain Specialty Clinic of Canada website (reached
through the URL

is
owned and operated by
Dr. S. A. Schumacher, a
British Columbia-based podiatric physician and surgeon.
Dr. Schumacher is
board certified by both the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and the American
Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine and holds Diplomate status with both organizations. He is a Fellow in the American

The Heel
Pain Specialty Clinic of Canada is a division of the
Achilles Foot Health Centre,
a full-service 3,800 square foot podiatric medical facility in the northern
portion of Surrey, British Columbia. This Achilles Foot Health Centre provides a wide range of podiatric medical and surgical
services.
We have several other areas of specialization and interest, many of which have
separate websites devoted to them. For instance:
-
In addition to
providing care for our regular patients, we provide foot surgery
for local patients on lengthy waiting lists for foot surgery,
and out-of-town patients who are seeking foot surgery by an
individual specializing in the foot. For information
on this, please visit
www.FootSurgeryCanada.ca.
-
We also offer
our surgical
facility to other physicians to use for their patients.
If you are a
physician interested in using our facility for surgical
procedures, please visit
www.SurgicalCentre.ca for more
information about what we offer.
-
The Achilles Foot
Health Centre is the first podiatric practice in western Canada,
perhaps all of Canada, to offer radiosurgery for patients. For more
information on this technology, visit us at
www.RadioSurgery.ca.
-
A major
area of specialization for us is the piezoelectric version of
Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), which is used to treat
a variety of complaints, including heel pain.
Piezoelectric technology is the most precise version of ESWT
available anywhere in the world, and we are the only facility in
western Canada using this technology--and there are no such
facilities yet anywhere in the United States. We are also
one of very few facilities anywhere in the world specializing in
ESWT for the foot. For more information on this
non-invasive therapy, visit us at
www.ShockWaveTherapy.ca.
-
Another area of
specialization is that of custom orthotic appliances (orthoses),
custom braces, custom shoes, boots, and sandals. (Dr.
Schumacher is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric
Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine and a Fellow in the
American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.)
We offer a treadmill gait analysis and specialty products from
laboratories around the world. For more information, visit
us at www.Orthoses.ca.
-
We also have a
particular interest in specialty imaging for podiatric problems.
For instance, we are the only podiatric facility in western Canada, perhaps
in
all of Canada, to offer in-office fluoroscopic imaging. We use the
top-of-the-line Premier mini C-arm fluoroscope by GE. If you're
interested in fluoroscopy, a form of moving X-rays, visit us at
www.Fluoroscopy.ca.
-
We also offer
in-office, same-day diagnostic ultrasound for soft tissue complaints.
Worried a tendon may be ruptured? Want to visualize the
size and location of a soft tissue growth? Can't wait or
afford MRI? Diagnostic Ultrasound may be an option. For more information on diagnostic ultrasound, visit us at
www.DiagnosticUltrasound.ca.
If you're interested in
general information on the foot, we have a couple more sites you might find
useful:
-
To learn more about common foot problems visit the
Virtual Foot
Hospital, a site with
hundreds of foot health topics.
-
If you're interested in
information about podiatric medicine in particular, the medical specialty
completely devoted to the foot, visit us at
www.PodiatricMedicine.ca. For the student interested in
podiatric medicine, we
also have a website relating to becoming a podiatrist at
www.DoctorofPodiatricMedicine.ca.
